The 150 Watts into 8 ohms Ai500 integrated amplifier consists of the very best technology in the category. With special attention paid to the areas that make a real sonic difference, the Ai500 uses components that would only normally be featured in products twice or even three times its price. The preamplifier section, for example, features low-noise transistors and direct coupling, which, when combined with meticulous ground isolation techniques, ensure a superb signal-to-noise ratio – essential in this highly sensitive area of the circuit. This drives the power amplifier section which employs matched Hitachi MOSFET power transistors in Class AB push-pull configuration, offering the best trade-off between high performance and high efficiency.

To achieve optimum sig¬nal transfer and minimum phase shift, the Ai500 utilises April Music’s unique proprietary circuitry within the input circuitry, gain stage, drive stage and bias net. iPod sound and control is catered for via its own dedicated input.

Unusual for a product of this type, the Ai500 features advanced digital to analogue converters. This enables the connection of digital sources via the COAX and optical inputs as well as a USB interface, allowing for the connection to a PC or Mac for music streaming.

All of the above is powered by supper-stable separate internal power supplies with the power amplifier section having tremendous current reserves for lifelike dynam¬ics. With an overlarge 800VA toroidal transformer, fast-recovery rectifiers and enormous capacitor bank (90,000uF), the Ai500 will never run out of steam even with the most demanding music and difficult loudspeaker loads.

The Ai500 is finished in contemporary satin-finished aluminium casework and comes with an aluminium ‘block’ full system remote control.
